It is a traditional combination of dried figs pressed with almonds,Morbier cheese comes from the Franche Comte region of eastern France. A semisoft washed rind, cow's milk cheese with a rustic personality. Cheesemakers would make a curd from the afternoon milking in a copper pot over a wood fire and, before retiring for the night, would sprinkle some ash from the fire over the curd as a mold retardant. The morning milk curd would then be placed on top leaving the layer of ash visible when the cheese is cut into.
